Bahnradweg Ovelgönne

The Ovelgönne railroad cycle path starts at the market square in Großenmeer and then leads straight along the old railroad embankment to the former Oldenbrok station on the K210. The former railroad line - popularly known as the "Gummibahn" because of the moorland subsoil - was put into operation from Oldenburg to Brake in 1896. The line was closed in 1976 for economic reasons. The tracks and ballast were removed. Today, the dismantled railroad embankment can be used by cyclists, hikers and horse riders. Along the path, users can find an educational tree trail with 10 information boards and 5 motorized elements. In addition to the touristic focus, the project offers links to the existing medicinal herb nature trail, the Kiekpadd and the "Große Angelkuhle".
