Along the bay and the natural spectacle of the "floating moor", the trail leads through small villages and wide landscapes to Moorriem, the home of the region's rural cultural history. Here you have the opportunity to stop off at a dairy restaurant, a so-called Melkhus, and fortify yourself with a delicious cake or dairy product. You are guided south through the interior of the country back to the Weser, where you have the opportunity to visit the historically valuable Schifferkirche church in Warfleth. Passing the tiny chapel on the dyke, you enter Lemwerder. The second Weser ferry trip awaits you here, taking you to Bremen-Vegesack. From there, it is not far to the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, where the cycle route starts and ends.

The circular tour starts at Bremen main station and leads counter-clockwise first to the artists' village of Worpswede and into the Teufelsmoor moorland region. From there, it goes via the moor metropolis of Gnarrenburg and the recreational town of Bremervörde on the Oste to the Hanseatic city of Stade and through the old country on the Ebstrom, the largest fruit-growing region in Germany. The northernmost section of the route begins in Freiburg an der Elbe and takes you parallel to the Elbe to Cuxhaven. Here, the "Alte Liebe" viewing platform and the beach offer sweeping views of the North Sea or the UNESCO Wadden Sea World Heritage Site, depending on the tide. From there, the route takes you across Cuxland, past the Ahlenmoor nature reserve and Bederkesa Lake to Bremerhaven. The seaside town offers exciting museums in the Havenwelten, all of which are within walking distance and which you should take time to visit.

For a ride along the bike trail from Teufelsmoor to the Wadden Sea, we recommend using a touring bike. Of course, you’ll need weatherproof clothing that can also withstand the wind. And if you have room, be sure to pack a small pair of binoculars.

You can easily park free of charge at the train stations in the smaller towns along the cycle trail. Many accommodation providers also offer parking facilities for their guests. However, they should be informed before the tour.

Safety guidelines
The 450 km long cycle route "From the Devil's Moor to the Wadden Sea" including the alternative route "Nordenham-Lemwerder" leads you through the flat to gently undulating North German landscape on mainly paved paths. However, as the cycle route crosses many attractive natural areas, it also runs partly on natural and narrow paths. Depending on the weather, short sections of the path may be wet or sandy. However, the greater effort is rewarded by an intense experience of nature away from the main traffic.
