The arable weed trail shows you where the most important crop plants and their wild companions come from at 17 stations around the fields of the Verein Naturschutz Park (VNP) Landschaftspflegehof Tütsberg. You will learn about the history of agriculture and the use of wild and cultivated plants. It also explains why many wild plants are highly endangered today and what we can do to protect the colorful wild field herbs.
What are wild field herbs?
Wild field herbs are all wild plants that grow in a field without human intervention.
The best-known wild field herbs are chamomile, poppy and cornflower. There are also many unknown, interesting and endangered species such as horsetail and lambsquarters, which are typical of the Lüneburg Heath.
Around 350 species are counted among the wild field herbs in Central Europe. The Nature Conservation Park Association wants to draw attention to the wild herbs of Lüneburg Heath in particular with the Wild Herb Trail.
