Wildgatter

Animal enclosure
Friends’ and support association
Hildesheim's wild side

If you take your offspring on a trip to the game reserve in the district of Ochtersum, children's eyes are sure to sparkle. There are many different animals to see! Wild boar, fallow deer, pygmy goats, rabbits, pheasants and peacocks are just some of the species that live in this nature reserve in a species-appropriate manner on an area of around 6 hectares. The more than 300 animals are well cared for here, and information about their character and preferences can be found on boards. Great: A rescue centre is used to save owls and birds of prey that have suffered injuries in the wild. The small park museum "Steinbergium" also provides information on many species from the region, for example the world of insects is vividly presented on a microscope table. Meanwhile, an Indian tepee and small riding animals await the kids in the playground, and the whole family can enjoy coffee and cake or rustic dishes in the restaurant. The game reserve on the 300-metre-high Steinberg is conveniently open around the clock, 365 days a year, and is easy to reach by car (parking spaces) or with the city bus line 5. Admission is free of charge - so don't hesitate to come!
