Water tower
The Juist water tower is enthroned on the island's highest dune at 22 metres. With its height of 13 metres, it towers over all the buildings on the island. It is considered the landmark of Juist. When you enter Juist harbour, the Juist water tower with the Strandhotel Kurhaus Juist is the most prominent and visible building. It was built in 1927/28. Today it still carries the 250 m³ storage basin, which is still indispensable for the water supply of our island. The Juist water tower is particularly important during the summer months with their high consumption times. The Juist people affectionately call the water tower "Doornkaatbuddel" because it resembled the bottle of the then famous brand of schnapps. Unfortunately, you cannot climb the Juist water tower to admire the view. However, you have a very nice view of the beach and the North Sea from the water tower. You also have a wonderful view of the village and the Wadden Sea just a few metres to the south at the viewing dune at the Haus des Kurgastes, about 10 metres from the water tower.
