The moated castle of Bisperode, built between 1564 and 1574, is a magnificent example of the Weser Renaissance and is located in Bisperode, a district of the municipality of Coppenbrügge in the district of Hameln-Pyrmont, Lower Saxony. It originally served as the seat of the noble von Hake family.
The rectangular castle is surrounded by a moat, which gives it its name. The richly decorated gables, bay windows and façades are characteristic of the Weser Renaissance. Over the centuries, the castle has been rebuilt and renovated several times.
Today, the castle is privately owned and is used both as a residence and for cultural events and guided tours. The well-tended park surrounding the castle is perfect for a stroll.
