Till Eulenspiegel-Museum Schöppenstedt

Museum
Welcome to the Till Eulenspiegel Museum.
At the Till Eulenspiegel Museum in Schöppenstedt, you can discover that there is much more to the colorful children's book hero with the bell cap than just a harmless joker. The large permanent exhibition addresses many things that visitors from all over the world want to know about Eulenspiegel - and questions some of the things they thought they knew. It is almost impossible to single out particular exhibits, as the large number of exhibits also reflects the multifaceted nature of the character. However, the Meissen porcelain figures and the museum's oldest book from 1555, of which only this one copy still exists, can be considered highlights. Till Eulenspiegel - a novel in the form of a collection of stories which, since its first printing in the early 16th century, humanist scholars have torn from their hands and translated into many languages and which has since appeared in hundreds of editions. Since the 19th century, a toned-down version has become a children's book hit. Most visitors bring this picture with them to the museum, which shows them that they only know one facet of the dazzling figure who, according to the five-hundred-year-old book, first saw the light of day around 1300 in Kneitlingen am Elm in Brunswick.
