Schifffahrts Museum Nordhorn

Museum
Boat trip/Schifffahrt

The museum shows the history of shipping in Nordhorn.
Shipping was not only practiced on the world's oceans, but also inland. Rivers and canals were the most important transport links here. Nordhorn used to be a crossing point for inland shipping. However, the model of a peat barge, as well as the Zompen and Schuiten and some old photos can only show a tiny part of Nordhorn's former shipping industry.

The exhibition of old navigation instruments and ship models of various sizes gives visitors to the Nordhorn Maritime Museum an insight into the world of seafaring. It is important to the museum to reappraise and demonstrate the history of shipping in Nordhorn. Guided tours can be booked on request. Groups can make additional appointments by prior arrangement.

The museum has two larger exhibition rooms, two library rooms with several thousand titles from the history of shipping. An event room with 52 seats and projection facilities for video films, office, conference room, archive and workshop for restorations, as well as facilities for the care of visitors such as reception, checkrooms, galley, toilets and 15 parking spaces.
