The Emsland Museum shows the history of the county and the town of Lingen from the Middle Ages to the present day. In addition to old fortress plans, weapons and ecclesiastical art, furniture, pewter utensils, tiles and other everyday objects from past centuries also play a role.
In the former coach house of Palais Danckelmann, for example, a large country kitchen with an open fire and a typical bedroom with a "Butze", a bed cupboard, are furnished true to the original. A baroque room and a living room from the Biedermeier period show how the wealthy bourgeoisie lived. In the attic, guests can find out what was said to the children at the table or in the kitchen by the stove. Here it's all about giants and dwarves, witches and ghosts, in short: the legendary world of Emsland.
