The East Frisian Agricultural Museum in the warf village of Campen takes its visitors on a journey into the development of industrial agriculture in East Frisia between 1850 and 1950. Founded in 1979 it has slowly developed from a research project into one of the best-known museums in East Frisia. The museum has a collection of more than 600 exhibits, which are displayed on over 2000 m2 in two historic Gulfhof barns and a farm worker's house - from small tools to gigantic steam engines. The charm of the original barns creates a magical atmosphere that immediately captivates you.
One focus of the exhibition is a collection of historic tractors and agricultural machinery, all of which were used in the fields of East Frisia and have been painstakingly restored by the operators' association. In addition to the technical exhibits, the history of the agricultural workers of East Frisia is another focus of the house. In the farm workers' house, which is furnished true to the original, visitors can experience how large families lived in a very small space in those days. The operators' association offers regular and non-regular guided tours of the exhibition. There, anyone interested can buy goods such as handmade enamel tableware, books about the East Frisian region, historical children's toys or even fun little things. Drinks and snacks are also on sale. The museum also offers its toilets for public use.
Admission to the agricultural museum can be booked in combination with the Campen lighthouse.
