In the center of the city of Emden, in the town hall on the Delft, the East Frisian State Museum Emden houses a collection of art and cultural history that is unique in northwest Germany. On almost 3,000 square meters of exhibition space, visitors can experience exciting insights into art and history. The past of East Frisia is brought back to life with the help of important contemporary artefacts. Current art and cultural-historical themes are presented in changing special exhibitions. Events accompanying the exhibitions and special offers for families and children make the Landesmuseum a meeting place for all generations.
The heart of the collection is the Emden armory with its 400-year-old swords, matchlock muskets and harnesses, which impressively reflect the armament of the city at the time. Other attractions include the collection of Dutch masterpieces in the picture gallery, the bog body from Bernuthsfeld and the silver treasure of the city of Emden.
E-bike cyclists will also find a charging station there, which is available free of charge during the museum's opening hours.
