The rescue cruiser "Otto Schülke" was in service on Norderney from 1969 to 1997. In the almost 30 years that it was stationed on the island of Norderney, it rescued countless people from distress at sea.
Many islanders, but also guests, fondly remember the sight of the rescue cruiser in the harbor or when it was on duty off the island.
Since 31 July 2021, the "Otto Schülke"
has been back in service on Norderney. Since July 31, 2021, the "Otto Schülke"
has been back in Norderney harbour,
as a ready-to-use museum cruiser.
Now she has a permanent berth in the eastern harbour area and a small museum is being created.
The plan is to open the rescue cruiser to the public from April 2025.
