Climb aboard for a leisurely stroll along the rails with the vintage train of the Heide-Express. The powerful diesel locomotive and its carriages take you past idyllic places from Lüneburg via Amelinghausen and Steinbeck to Bispingen. You can also visit the beautiful vacation resort of Soltau on the Heide-Express. Of course, the Heide-Express is also available for the journey from Soltau via Bispingen to Amelinghausen and Lüneburg.

Ideas for a day in Lüneburg:
What would a vacation in the Lüneburg Heath be without a visit to the historic salt and Hanseatic town of Lüneburg with its picturesque gabled buildings. Stroll through the charming alleyways, browse in the many different stores or set off on a sightseeing tour.

TIP NO. 1: WATER TOWER WITH A GREAT VIEW
The best view of Lüneburg and the region can be enjoyed from the viewing platform of the water tower, built in 1906 and 1907, at a height of 56 meters. It can be reached on foot or by elevator.

TIP NO. 2: STINTMARKT WITH OLD CRANE
The old crane, one of Lüneburg's landmarks alongside the town hall, is a reminder of the time when Lüneburg's "white gold" (salt) was loaded here and smelt (fish) was traded. Today, the "Stint" is one of the city's most popular pubs.

TIP NO. 3: PLATZ AM SANDE
The Platz am Sande is lined with magnificent town houses with all kinds of Lüneburg gables from different eras and architectural styles. It is probably one of the most important medieval squares in Germany.
