As an information and documentation center, but also as a memorial and place of remembrance, the Schnackenburg Borderland Museum aims to contribute to keeping the consequences of the division of Germany in our memories and preventing us from forgetting. The exhibition is a reminder of the 45-year division of Germany, the Iron Curtain and the Cold War and provides an opportunity for a detailed, reflective and critical examination of Germany's recent history. In addition to uniforms, equipment, weapons and vehicles, the permanent exhibition includes numerous documents and photographs as well as eyewitness accounts from both sides of the former border.
