Ausstellungszentrum Gut Altenkamp
A baroque pleasure garden, a manor house from the early 18th century and magnificent rococo murals: Gut Altenkamp in Aschendorf regularly provides an atmospheric and festive setting for top-class concerts and art exhibitions.
The architect Peter Pictorius built the representative official residence of the Emsland Drosten between 1728 and 1732 in the Dutch-North German Baroque style. After years of neglect, the city of Papenburg acquired the unique architectural monument in 1981 and had it carefully restored. The pleasure garden with its formally trimmed taxus hedges was reconstructed according to historical plans, rococo wall paintings were brought back to light during the restoration of the interior, in short: a visit is worthwhile even when neither an exhibition nor a concert is on the agenda.
