With the construction of a canal and the establishment of an ironworks in the mid-19th century, the economic rise of the town—named after Grand Duke Paul Friedrich August of Oldenburg—began.
 
The tour begins at the Augustfehn Steelworks, where you’ll gain fascinating insights into the history of the plant, its production processes, and the industrial development of the site.
