Vogelbeobachtung am Wangermeer in Hohenkirchen
Lake Wangermeer, a very young man-made lake near Hohenkirchen, was created through clay mining to raise the dikes. It is particularly attractive during migration seasons for waterfowl that have bred in the tundras of Russia and northern Scandinavia (Finland, Sweden, Norway), such as the Eurasian wigeon, common goldeneye, smew, and goosander. These species winter in the Wadden Sea but also find good resting and roosting spots on this freshwater lake, where they can be observed particularly well. From the meeting point, we’ll walk to prime observation spots.
Please bring binoculars if possible.
