POPSALON - MÊN AN TOL
TODAY IN THE LAGERHALLE: MÊN AN TOL
MÊN AN TOL were founded in south London - where folk, pub and community are inextricably linked. Frontman Bill Jefferson, who grew up in Cornwall, found his musical roots in the pub sessions there. The band name itself refers to an ancient stone circle monument in his homeland - a symbol of history, myth and cohesion. Completed by Felix Knox (mandolin), Max Silvey (bass), Tom Stevens (drums) and Robert Wiseman (guitar), the band combines the raw spirit of classic folk icons such as The Pogues and The Waterboys with the energy and self-confidence of Britpop. The sound of the mandolin, the pulsating rhythms and the lively storytelling create a music that moves between tradition and new beginnings. MÊN AN TOL bring lost folk traditions back into the here and now - with heart, wit and unbridled joy of playing. Their concerts are exuberant celebrations of British musical culture - a collective that breathes history and sounds the future.
