On a discovery tour through the medieval monastery district - guided tour on the monastery discovery trail

Guided tour
The Gothic monastery complex with its impressive church ruins and the completely preserved cloister still characterizes the townscape of Walkenried today.
The town itself only emerged within the walled monastery precinct after the dissolution of the monastery in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Join us on a tour of discovery around the church and cloister and learn exciting facts about the eventful history of the various sites - such as why the Gothic monastery church is now in ruins or why a medieval inscription is hidden in the baroque hunting lodge.
Afterwards, you can explore the Cistercian Museum Walkenried Monastery with its unique cloister on your own. Admission to the museum is included.
