The World in Miniature Comes to Winsen!

There’s plenty to marvel at, discover, and try out here: The fascinating world of model building is back in Winsen. Model builders from nearly every field are presenting their vehicles—on water, on land, and in the air. Whether made of cardboard, metal, or wood, tiny or impressively large: the diversity of model building is astonishing. Many model builders will demonstrate their vehicles in action.

The museum in the Marstall, as well as the entire area between the Marstall and the castle, will come alive with model builders: Watercraft circle the castle pond, historic steam engines run in the Marstall, and detailed model train layouts attract attention with their lovingly designed scenes. On the Schlossplatz, radio-controlled vehicles and trucks are in action, and there are also airplanes and helicopters to marvel at. With great passion and a high level of craftsmanship, the model builders create highly detailed miniatures that come astonishingly close to their real-life counterparts. 

Anyone who feels inspired to try their hand at model building can purchase models and replacement parts at various booths or test out model vehicles directly at individual stations. This year, there are even more options: exhibitors are present on every floor of the museum. For the youngest visitors, there’s an open construction area where they can set up a small obstacle course. They can bring their own vehicles or borrow them. At other stations as well, models invite visitors to get involved and give them a try.

Admission is €5 for adults. Children under 18 and members of the Local History and Museum Association are admitted free of charge.

Please note: Some models cannot be displayed in case of rain or storms. Therefore, it is possible that certain vehicles planned for the outdoor area may not be in operation. However, the exhibition featuring model trains, steam engines, and many other models will take place as scheduled in the Marstall.
