KornmühlenKonzert: Flaw And Order

The Osnabrück-based jazz quartet Flaw And Order, as its name suggests, explores the ambivalence between chaos and order. Fixed structures are deliberately disrupted, and a new order emerges from a chaotic jumble of sounds. In the process, Mattis Balks (alto/soprano saxophone), Wiebke Schröder (piano), Minh Voong (double bass/electric bass), and Sebastian Metken (drums) continually explore different sonic worlds, sounding at times detached, free, and ethereal, and at other times grounded, clear, and catchy. Their musical curiosity is expressed primarily through original compositions, but also through modern interpretations of songs and standards. The music that emerges is mostly rooted in modern jazz, often blended with oriental or rock-inspired elements.
