The Trio Ariadne was founded following the German Music Competition 2024 as part of the German Music Council's concert funding program.
The trio is characterized by its unusual instrumentation: The oboe and horn are the voice that probably comes closest to the human voice. It was therefore clear to the trio early on in its conception that it wanted to make reference to literature and poetry in one of its programs. The concrete impetus for this program was August Klughardt's "Schilflieder" (originally for oboe, viola and piano). Klughardt does not set the music directly, but rather reflects the moods of the eponymous cycle of poems by the late Romantic poet Nikolaus Lenau.
This combination of literature and music forms the framework of the program - the journey in between leads through various character pieces by Clara and Robert Schumann, while the focus is on a selection from Max Bruch's Eight Pieces op. 83 (original for clarinet, viola and piano). "The poet speaks" is Robert Schumann's motto - in our program, he will do so in music and poetry alike.
