Kirchenführung in Backemoor
The St. Laurentius and St. Vincentius Church in Backemoor is one of the oldest churches in our region. It was built around 1250 and stands in the middle of the old cemetery, surrounded by tall oak trees. The Baroque organ, built in 1783 by the Emden organ builder J. F. Wenthin, is one of the gems of East Frisia’s organ heritage. A visit to the church is always worthwhile; the knowledgeable guided tour offers visitors a unique insight into the church. Those interested can learn here about the church’s history, its furnishings, and the unique features of the historic organ, which will also be played at the end of the tour. Afterward, it’s worth taking a stroll through the cemetery, which features many old gravestones.
