In the early 1970s, the family of eight-year-old Hans-Peter moves from the rural part of Recklinghausen to his grandparents’ house in the city’s Nordviertel neighborhood. There, Hans-Peter grows up surrounded by a neighborhood corner store and his extended family, who love to celebrate with great enthusiasm. As he grows, his special talent becomes increasingly apparent: making others laugh.
