Im Reich der Heidschnucken - Wanderung am Heidschnuckenweg

On this special hike, we’ll guide you through endless, flower-filled heathlands toward Wilseder Berg and on to the idyllic heathland village of Wilsede.

In the historic sheep barn at the Emhof, an exclusive special exhibition awaits you celebrating the Year of the Heidschnucken and Herding Dogs. Afterward, we’ll head out into nature: You’ll encounter a real herd of Heidschnucken sheep and listen to the shepherd’s fascinating explanations. We’ll then continue our hike toward Haverbeck and back to the starting point.

Special note: 2026 is dedicated to Heidschnucken sheep and herding dogs—this rare breed of livestock is being actively promoted in the heath. The Lüneburg Heath Nature Reserve Association maintains six herds of Heidschnucken to graze the nature reserve areas and brings this fascinating topic to life for visitors.
