Since its premiere in 1974, the Wietzendorf Honey Festival - always held on the last full weekend in September - has delighted visitors from near and far. Originally initiated to promote tourism, the festival has developed into a permanent cultural highlight of the Lüneburg Heath.

Exhibitors and information stands from local associations present handicrafts, regional specialties, honey products such as honey sweets, mead, beeswax candles and honey soap and much more. Music and walk acts provide a great atmosphere and for the little ones, the Kinderland around St. Jakobi Church offers lots of fun, hands-on activities and a children's flea market. Another highlight is the crowning of the "Wietzendorf Honey of the Year" on Sunday.

The honey festival stands for tradition and community and even more for an all-round great festival weekend in Wietzendorf.
