Gästeführung „Fehn-Tour": Vortrag mit historischem Rundgang übers Fehn
"Fehn Tour" Guided Tour
Lecture with a historical walking tour of the Fehn
We’ll meet at the Museumsteestube for a lecture on “The History of the Fehn.” Using historical photographs, our tour guide will give us a glimpse into just how difficult it was for our ancestors to conquer the vast moor, dig the canals, and establish settlements. Here, we’ll also see and learn how the character of our town has changed over time. He’ll discuss life and work on the Fehntjer Königsallee and touch on Fehn shipping. After the lecture, we’ll take a short tour of the museum.
Then our approximately 3.5-kilometer walking tour begins at the Fehn Founders’ Station at the museum.
We’ll then walk through the history of Westrhauderfehn and Rhaudermoor. With the Hope Church in view, we’ll walk to City Hall, our first stop. Little by little, we’ll continue on to several stops along the Fehn tour. Our tour guide will explain how the Fehn and its commercial and residential buildings along the canals have changed over time. The historical photographs along the way make this very clear.
The guided tour ends in the harbor district with a cup of tea or coffee at Café “Am Siel” and a chance to chat, after we’ve visited the “Rhauder Schanze” memorial site near the RV park.
Event dates: Saturday, July 26, 2026, and August 23, 2026, both at 3:00 p.m.
Price per person/participation: 13 EUR, including a small pot of tea or coffee
Registration required! Please register with the Rhauderfehn Tourist Information Office at the Fehn and Maritime Museum in Westrhauderfehn, Rajen 5, Rhauderfehn, by phone at 04952 - 9971344 or by email at info@ti.rhauderfehn.de
