The Upstalsboom is a place steeped in myth and of great historical significance to East Frisia. In the Middle Ages, the Free Frisians gathered here. Frisian freedom is a historical phenomenon unique in the world. The approximately 1½-hour walk explores the history and unique features of the site from the 8th to the 21st century—sometimes serious, sometimes lighthearted.
