DEWEZET CLASSICS | 5. Hamelner Konzert
The Argentine Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) is considered the founder of Tango Nuevo, an evolution of traditional Tango Argentino. He expanded the harmony of tango by incorporating elements of jazz as well as musical references to his idols, composers Igor Stravinsky and Béla Bartók.
The sonic.art saxophone quartet was founded in 2005 and is a chamber music ensemble with an international flair. Its current members come from Belarus, Australia, Japan, and Germany, have studied in Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Lyon, and Vienna, and live in Berlin.
A CD featuring their own arrangements of works by Astor Piazzolla is the quartet's most recent release.
