Young Stars of Tomorrow

“In Colin Pütz's piano playing, technical brilliance and expressiveness combine with a touching naturalness. It is as if the music speaks through him – not staged, not memorized, but coming from the innermost being. Particularly remarkable is Colin's ability to not only play the great works of piano literature but to tell them. Whether Beethoven or Chopin, whether Bach or Schubert – he finds a unique truth in every phrase.” said pianist and curator Rudolf Buchbinder during the award ceremony of the renowned Swiss piano prize Prix Serdang 2025 to Colin Pütz.

A significant milestone for the German pianist Colin Pütz, who was born in 2007, is his close artistic collaboration with conductor Cristian Măcelaru, who entrusted Colin with Chopin's 2nd Piano Concerto when he was just 14 – first with the WDR Symphony Orchestra and later together with the Orchestre National de Radio France. Since then, the two have shared an intensive musical partnership:

In November 2022, Colin played Mozart's Piano Concerto in C Major, KV 467 with the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra at the Bucharest Athenaeum, and in November 2023 with the Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra in Romanian Timișoara.

This was followed by Mozart's Piano Concerto in C Minor, KV 491 with the Dresden Philharmonic in March 2024. According to the Online Merker, Colin “possesses many pianistic virtues, including those of the great masters of the past and present, which could be rescued by him into the future,” and impressed with an “intense correspondence with the orchestra,” which devotedly surrounded his solo part.
