The entire old town of Alfeld shines with festive lights and the retail stores and markets present themselves with diverse, tasteful and imaginative ideas. There is a varied program around the Christmas market with music, guided tours of the town, craft afternoons, tower tours, readings and baking bread on a stick. Santa Claus will also be visiting on many days.
Budenzauber in front of the town hall offers a program for the whole family and a special kind of winter sport until 23 December:
The covered curling rink - purchased in 2023 with the support of the Alfeld Community Foundation by Forum Alfeld Aktiv and operated by the Post SV boules team - was extremely well received and will be set up again this year. It will start on November 30 - with the start of the Christmas market - and will close again on December 23 at 9 p.m.

The traditional Christmas market on Thursday, December 12 will once again be a special highlight in the run-up to Christmas. The Christmas market will be complemented by many stalls and stands, and the market square and the surrounding gastronomy will become a meeting place for young and old. Many Alfeld clubs and associations will also have stalls to attract visitors to the old town. The fair is a festival by the people for the people.

From the direction of Hanover:
Alfeld (Leine) can be reached from the north via the Bundesstraße 3 (B3).
Leave the B3 at the Limmer exit and follow the signs to Innenstadt/Seminarpakplatz
From the direction of Göttingen:
From the south, Alfeld (Leine) can be reached via the Autobahn 7 (A7) and the Bundesstraße 3 (B3). Follow the A7 to the Northeim-Nord exit (69). Then continue on the B3 in the direction of Northeim/Alfeld/Einbeck/Hameln.
Then take Göttinger Straße in the direction of the city center/seminar parking lot

Public transportation
Travel by train to Alfeld (Leine).
Alfeld (Leine) is conveniently located on the main north-south railroad line. Trains operated by Deutsche Bahn AG and Metronom Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH enable hourly travel to and from Alfeld (Leine).
