Hann. Münden

‘Where the Werra meets the Fulda …’ – is precisely where you’ll find the town of Hann. Münden. Nestled in the heart of Niedersachsen, it is here that the two rivers merge to form the Weser river. With so much water surrounding the town, exploring it by canoe, kayak or rowing boat offers a delightful alternative way to experience its charm. But even if water isn’t your element, Hann. The town is the starting point of the Weser Cycle Route (Weser-Radweg), one of Germany’s most popular long-distance cycling trails. Alternatively, enjoy a leisurely wander through the town’s half-timbered alleyways and round off your visit with a stroll nearby or a themed walk in the Münden Nature Park. 

The Weser Stone marks the confluence of the rivers Werra and Fulda, where the Weser begins. While you’re there, embark on the Weser Uplands Route (Weserbergland-Weg) for a memorable walking adventure. If you fancy some refreshments, stop by the Ratsbrauhaus, where delicious food and drinks are served in a unique vaulted cellar setting. History enthusiasts will enjoy exploring the Welf Castle and the Weser Renaissance Town Hall, while the view from the Tillyschanze Tower provides a stunning perspective over the town. 

In winter, Hann. Münden is transformed into a magical wonderland with a traditional Christmas market and the enchanting Magic of Light festival. Trees and sculptures bathed in soft light create a cosy atmosphere throughout the historical Old Town. In autumn, the Farmers Market showcases fresh produce and artisanal crafts, making it a seasonal favourite. For beer enthusiasts, the annual Beer Festival is a must, offering a chance to sample craft beers and both regional and national varieties.
