Nature experiences for the whole family

The nature park is a habitat for endangered animal and plant species, a recreational area for nature lovers and a place to experience cultural treasures. Over 280 bird species are native to the area and, with a bit of luck, you may spot rare animals such as the adder or the moor frog.

Nature in the Moor - Veenland Nature Park is completely different every season. In spring, the cotton grass covers the moor like a white carpet. Summer guarantees fun by the water and the blooming heather transforms the landscape into a purple sea of flowers. In autumn, the colorful forests invite you to go for a hike, and later in the year the snow-covered moor guarantees winter adventures. The result is unforgettable family moments.

Our tip: Use the various viewing platforms and towers to observe the animals. At the Moor Gates, an association of various museums, you can learn lots of interesting facts about the moor and its inhabitants.

One nature park - two countries - many possibilities

Whether by bike or on foot, use the boundless and cross-border routes for your own personal exploration tour. The various adventure and information trails are particularly popular with families, where you can get to know the Fullen Forest or the Garden of the Nazarene, for example.

How about a treasure hunt? With geocaching in the nature park, children can go on a treasure hunt with GPS devices. This is not only exciting, but also teaches a sense of direction, technical understanding and provides a new experience of nature.

The nature park is part of the National Natural Landscapes (NNL). In this alliance, the German national parks, nature parks, biosphere reserves and wilderness areas preserve fascinating nature together with the people on around a third of Germany's surface area, convey the joy of experiencing nature and shape the future sustainably with confidence.
