Natur- und Geopark TERRA.vita
The TERRA.vita Nature and Geopark has been active for people and nature for over 60 years and invites you to relax and discover: meandering streams, mystical moors, sandy heathlands or the wooded mountain ranges of the Teutoburg Forest and Wiehengebirge offer a variety of landscapes.
Look out for delicate creatures such as mushrooms and ferns, encounter beguilingly beautiful creatures such as orchids and forest hyacinths and discover the strangely beautiful stories told by fossilized creatures. Understand how closely rock, soil and nature are connected "for life".
Since 2015, we have held the rare distinction of being a UNESCO Global Geopark; protecting our geological heritage is therefore a central task for us.
"Earth history you can touch" is our motto. In order to make geological history tangible and understandable for guests and locals, we create adventure trails, radio plays about viewpoints, themed cycling and hiking routes, educational and information centers, teaching materials, excursions, geological tours, events, exhibitions and digital offerings.
The nature park is part of the National Natural Landscapes (NNL). In this alliance, the German national parks, nature parks, biosphere reserves and wilderness areas preserve fascinating nature together with the people on around a third of Germany's surface area, convey the joy of experiencing nature and shape the future sustainably with confidence. It stands for diversity, tolerance and democracy.
