Start at the Parking lot at the ponds and hike uphill through the forest and then over the Sonnenberg near Negenborn, where crisp climbs reward you with impressive panoramic views over the Leinetal.
The route continues through the Altendorfer Berg nature reserve, a scenic gem with unspoilt nature and sweeping views.
Note:
The hiking trail at the end of the Altendorfer Berg (approx. km 5.5 to 5.8) is currently (as of August 2025) slightly overgrown in places.

Directions & Parking facilities
- Getting thereThe parking lot at the ponds is located northeast of Einbeck.
By car:
Visitors arriving by car can park directly at the lower parking lot "An den Teichen" (free of charge). Access is via Ostertor in Einbeck, then onto Hubeweg and continue in the direction of "An den Teichen". The parking lot is located at the foot of the Hubehang directly by the ponds and is the starting point of VitalWeg 7.
By train:
Einbeck can be reached from Göttingen or Hanover via the train station Einbeck-Salzderhelden with a connection to the train station Einbeck-Mitte. From there, it is about a 20-minute walk (approx. 1.5 km) to the starting point of VitalWeg 7 at the "An den Teichen" parking lot. The path leads via Ball-Ricco-Straße along Stukenbrokpark, continuing along Teichenweg to the "An den Teichen" parking lot. Contact person
