NORDPFAD Haxloher Erde

We start at the Melkhus Fintel and walk on the green next to the asphalt road to the crossroads on the Wohlsberg. Here we turn left onto a country lane, which leads us 1.3 km along natural paths through the extensive fields and meadows of the Fintaumiederung. Once we reach the idyllic Fintaubrücke bridge, it is worth taking a short break. The 18.3 km long Heideflus has its source in the Lüneburg Heath and flows into the Wümme near Lauenbrück. It is a habitat for numerous fish, such as sea trout and salmon.

Leaving the bridge behind us, we walk through the middle of the fields and enjoy the view of the Langewiese meadow. A paved path takes us to the next crossroads, where we turn left into Im Vieh. We follow the asphalted and later cobbled birch avenue on the adjacent grass verge. On the right-hand side of the path, the 43 m high Feienberg stands out from the Fintaun lowlands. On the other side of the path is a small marshland, which is drained by the Florgraben, which we soon cross.

Following the next signpost, we walk east towards Feienbuschs Moor, cross the K221 and reach the Wiesenblick rest area. In front of us lies vast grassland. During a rest stop here and elsewhere in spring and fall, you can listen to the trumpet concert of numerous resting cranes. At the southern edge of the Hammoor, we walk to the Hammoor woodland, turn right onto the cobbled road and follow the path to the next crossroads. On the left is the south-western part of the Upper Fintau Valley nature reserve, which protects a section of the eighteen-kilometre-long Fintau with its alder, birch and pine forests.

We follow the path and the Fintau in a westerly direction. The heath river winds its way hidden through a swamp forest. We can only catch a glimpse of the Fintau now and again, while on the other side of the path we have a wide view of the fields and farmland. Passing a biogas plant, we cross the K 221 again, pass a farm and continue straight ahead along the fine gravel path. A little way behind the Mühlenbachswiesen meadows , we leave the path and walk along the NORDPFAD in the direction of Fintel. We cross the Fintau again , reach the small settlement of Wohlsberg and finally our starting point, the Melkhus Fintel.

If you like, you can take a look at the open stables of the Aselmann family's farm and enjoy refreshments at the Melkhus during the summer months. The 1.3 km detour to the center of Fintel is also worthwhile. In addition to places to stop for refreshments, shopping and overnight accommodation, you can also visit the Schimmes Hoff local history house with its beautiful garden and the open cycle path church of St. Antonius .


Short variant
The short 4.5 km variant, which is suitable for families and takes around 1 1/2 hours, leads from Melkhus Fintel via Wohlsdorf to Fintaubrücke. From the following Langewiese, however, it does not go to the road "Im Vieh", but directly to the Fintau and from there back to the Melkhus Fintel.


Networking with other NORDPFADEN trails:
A 2.8 km long access path leads to the Osterberg, starting point 1 of the NORDPFADES Osterberg.


Incident reports
Before your hike, you should check www.nordpfade.de for information about possible detour and disruptions to the trail, for example due to flooding, storm damage or forestry work.

Marker
The marker shows a white "N" on an orange background with the name of the NORDPFAD Haxloher Erde.

Signposting
Destination signposts supplement the markings and are placed at prominent points. The signposts list places that are on the route or branch off from it, together with the distance in kilometers. The logo of the respective NORDPFADES is located underneath.

It is around 30-40 minutes from the A1 and A7 highways to the starting points in Fintel, where there is an information board and parking facilities.

Arrival by bus

• NORDPFAD bus stop: Fintel Gemeinde (bus route 871) and Fintel, Am Markt (bus route 873), approx. 1.5 km and 1.4 km respectively from the S1 of the NORDPFAD
• Bus route 871: runs Mon.-Sat. between Rotenburg and Fintel, in Rotenburg (Wümme) there is a train connection to Hamburg and Bremen
• Bus route 873: runs Mon.-Fri. between Lauenbrück and Fintel, in Lauenbrück there is a rail connection to Hamburg and Bremen
