From wool to cloth
Cloths are fabrics made and finished from wool. Numerous steps were necessary for their production: from washing and combing the wool to spinning the yarn, weaving and finishing. In the Clothmakers' Museum, the world of the clothmakers comes alive again. In the historic buildings you can experience the complex manufacturing process on running machines from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Museum technicians and master clothiers let you look over their shoulders. Opened in 1997, the museum shows living industrial history on 2000 square metres. Johann-Heinrich Reffelt (1773-1829) was a master clothier in Bramsche. Even as a child it was clear that he would follow in his father's footsteps. He grew into his later profession by seeing, smelling, looking and feeling in his father's workshop. Immerse yourself in the life and work of the clothiers.
Bike and walking paths, a restaurant and beer garden at the picturesque mill site round off your visit to the town of the clothiers.
