... and presented to the visitor in a modern style. Learn more about the history and stories of one the most beautiful Guelph castles in Europe.
For almost three centuries, Celle was the permanent residence of the Dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg and thus the seat of government of the most important Guelph principality. The baroque state apartments of the last Duke of Celle, Georg Wilhelm, and his wife Eléonore d’Olbreuse, with their splendid stucco, are a highlight of the palace. The scene in each room is set highly effectively, through magnificent paintings and valuable furniture; even the medieval ballroom comes to life through the modern presentation. The Palace Chapel, a unique testament to Renaissance art, is the crowning glory of a visit to the museum and can be viewed as part of a guided tour.
Children can expect a very special journey of discovery at the museum, for not is there only a lot to see, to hear and smell – but exploring and trying out some of the exhibits is highly recommended too!
