Nationalpark-Haus Carolinensiel
For over 25 years, the team at the National Park House has been inspiring locals and visitors alike to explore the unique nature of the Wadden Sea. All the more reason for the staff to be an official NABU visitor center since last August.
The National Park House is located in a listed pastor's house that is over 200 years old, directly on the old museum harbor in Carolinensiel. Creaky floorboards and three-metre-high ceilings characterize the historic and barrier-free building, which the National Park House shares with the German Sielhafen Museum. Right on the first floor is the store, which sells regional products, alternatives for plastic, national park and museum literature as well as "mudflats" to play with. There is now also a brand new area with NABU products.
In the exhibition: "Our Wadden Sea - dynamic, young, successful", the whole family can learn a lot about the Wadden Sea National Park and its inhabitants. The open seawater aquarium in particular is not just for children. Starfish, crabs, flounder, plaice and sea scorpions can be observed here. For guests and locals alike, the house offers numerous mudflat hikes, during which you always get a little dirty, as well as special events that showcase the regional diversity on site - including East Frisian tea ceremonies, Low German and special boat tours
