At the Petersberg viewpoint, there is an information board showing the current development of the renaturation. Benches invite you to linger.
If you are not so good on foot, you can explore the lake and its surroundings by horse-drawn carriage. Information on this can be found on the website.
As the lake was affected by the inner-German division and therefore stretches across Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, it is a symbol of reunification.
