Bad Bevensen Spa Park
The spa park is the green centre of Bad Bevensen and is located between the town centre and the hotel district. It is located directly behind the Kurhaus and the Jod-Sole-Therme spa and, at 12 hectares, is a spacious park for walking, sunbathing, picnicking and relaxing. Old trees, marvellous flowering shrubs and bushes, water lily ponds and fountains are a constant delight for the senses. To the north, the spa gardens merge into the meadow landscape along the Ilmenau. This is a wonderful place to continue your hike. The Ilmenau heath river in the spa park
The Ilmenau flows through the centre of the spa park. A tour by canoe or stand-up paddling on the river provides great, unusual insights into the green landscape of the Lüneburg Heath. Canoe hire is available on the other side of the Ilmenau, opposite the spa gardens. Stand-up paddle boards can be hired from the tourist information centre in the Kurhaus. The boards can be lowered into the water on the lawn next to the Kneipp treading pool. The Kneipp treading pool is set up in the middle of the Ilmenau, and an arm pool can be found next to the sun trap in the spa park.Sun trap and pergola
The promenade with a large wooden pergola by the lake is the perfect place for a relaxing sunbathe and enjoyable stroll by the spa park's water lily pond. Some of the wooden benches and loungers can be orientated according to the position of the sun. And of course there are also shady spots. A few steps further on, the sun trap invites you to relax - the glazed building stores the sun's heat and is also a nice place to warm up and take a breather on cool, sunny days.Sundial and Neptune fountain
The mighty sundial on the southern edge of the spa park is impossible to miss: the mast of the sundial rises almost 16 metres into the air.In addition to the position of the sun, Bad Bevensen's sundial reveals a wealth of information about the calendar, seasons, geography and astronomy.
A few steps further on, a Neptune figure sits enthroned in a large, bubbling fountain. Many guided tours, cycle tours and walks start from here. If you follow Neptune's gaze, you can see the Göhrde Bridge and the city centre behind it - in just a few minutes you are in the pedestrian zone.
