Our family-run private hotel offers you a peaceful retreat between the cities of Hamburg and Bremen and is an ideal starting point for exploring the lively small town of Rotenburg and the landscape shaped by the Wümme River and its tributaries—on foot, by bike, or by canoe. The hotel’s beautiful ambiance, with its many thoughtful design details, ensures that guests feel completely at home.

To provide a pleasant “home away from home,” we offer our overnight guests 36 rooms and two suites equipped with every comfort. Most of the rooms are furnished in the classic Wachtelhof pinewood style. Fourteen rooms have been redesigned in a modern boutique style.

During their stay, our guests can rejuvenate in the 1,000-square-meter Wachtelhof Thermal Spa. The lagoon pool, featuring adventure saunas, relaxation areas, soothing massages, and aromatherapy and beauty treatments, invites you to unwind.
 
For our hiking guests, there are two circular hiking trails to choose from. The 21.3 km NORDPFAD Rotenburger Wasserreich trail winds through a landscape characterized by streams and the Wümme River. The 32.5 km NORDPFAD Wümmeniederung trail offers endless expanses, meadows, and forested dune ranges. The 10.3-kilometer-long, certified NORDPFAD Dör’ t Moor quality hiking trail is also nearby. Here, the Wachtelhof offers a snack in the great outdoors at the “Tischlein deck Dich!” rest stop upon advance reservation.

Cyclists can enjoy numerous half-day and full-day excursions on the Rotenburg themed routes or the Wümme Bike Trail. Golfers will also find plenty to enjoy. Two golf courses are easily accessible from our hotel.

You’ll be treated to culinary delights in our restaurant, “Die Wachtelei.” It combines a relaxed atmosphere and impeccable service with a pleasantly unpretentious, top-notch cuisine. This is largely thanks to Executive Chef Daniel Rundholz, who has been attracting food lovers and gourmets from near and far to the restaurant since March 2014. Seasonal cuisine, with a regional focus and exotic influences, forms the basis of his creations. In collaboration with an organic farmer, the head chef has dedicated himself to rediscovering “forgotten delights.” Local medicinal herbs and heirloom vegetables are imaginatively combined with modern gourmet cuisine.
