The Eichenhof is located in Hellwege, a typical North German village near Rotenburg (Wümme). The landscape here is primarily shaped by the small Wümme River, which gently winds its way through the Wümme Lowlands—a protected nature reserve—with its meadows, floodplains, and wooded dune ridges. A paradise not only for plants and animals, but also for hikers.

Guests are always welcome at the Heitmann family’s vacation farm. Three generations live under one roof on the former farm, which is surrounded by a shady park-like landscape. With great care and dedication, they run not only a guesthouse with six vacation apartments but also a small farm café, which is already known beyond the borders of the Rotenburg (Wümme) district for its delicious treats and relaxed atmosphere.

On weekends, when the farm café is open, guests can enjoy homemade cakes and pastries, refreshing local ice cream, delicious coffee and tea specialties, a light snack, tarte flambée, and cold drinks.

And once you’ve taken a seat in the summer garden under the old oak trees—or, in case of bad weather, made yourself comfortable in the modern fireplace room, furnished with an eye for detail—you won’t want to leave anytime soon.

There’s also plenty for the little ones to discover. The “little ones” can run around in the large courtyard, explore the playground, and pet the farm animals.

The idyllic village of Hellwege is located near Sottrum. Our vacation farm is right in the center of the village.

By car from Bremen or Osnabrück:
Take the A 1 to the Posthausen exit, continue toward Völkersen, and after about 1 km, turn left toward Hellwege.

By car from Hamburg:
Take the A 1 to the Posthausen exit, continue toward Völkersen, and after about 1 km, turn left toward Hellwege.

By car from Hanover:
Take the A 7 to the Walsrode interchange, then take the A 27 toward the Verden Nord exit, continuing toward Rotenburg (Wümme). Turn left in Eversen and drive through Ahausen to Hellwege.

Certified and awarded the "Quality Host for Wanderbares Deutschland" designation by the German Hiking Association: Our lodging is located near the NORDPFAD Wümmeniederung trail. It is particularly hiker-friendly in terms of amenities and service; among other things, we provide plenty of information about the NORDPFAD trails and the region. We also offer washing, drying, and cleaning facilities for your clothing and shoes.

The “NORDPFAD Wümmeniederung” is a wonderful way to explore the unique landscape. If you’d like, you can hike the entire 32.2 km NORDPFAD loop or set out on many half-day or full-day hikes from Hellwege.
