Our hotel and restaurant "Zur Kloster-Mühle" is located between Hamburg and Bremen, near Sittensen. In the middle of the forest and picturesquely situated by the mill pond, we offer our guests an oasis of relaxation, away from the noise and hustle and bustle of the big city.

The former water mill, powered by the water of the Kuhbach stream, was built 750 years ago and expanded over the years to include a manor house. After operations ceased in 1960, the architect Gerhard Klindworth acquired the historic half-timbered ensemble in 1986 and restored it with great attention to detail. The original character was skillfully combined with modern elements. Where the mill wheel once turned, there is now an architectural office, restaurant, guest house and hotel.

The cuisine is sustainable, creative and seasonal. The menu features regional and Mediterranean dishes. The dining room exudes a modern charm. In summer, the beer garden by the mill pond invites you to dine. The restaurant is also open outside regular opening hours for groups of 20 people or more. Of course, events and celebrations as well as conferences and seminars are also possible, which we organize according to your wishes.

Our guests can also stay overnight in our house. Fourteen stylishly furnished rooms are available for this purpose. The room number reveals which color tone dominates in the rooms. One of the rooms is even equipped with a luxurious whirlpool bathtub right next to the bed, a private sauna and a massage shower. There are therefore no fixed breakfast times. After a restful night, guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast with a view of the greenery or simply right next to the mill pond. A blessing for stressed souls!

Für die Zubereitung unserer Speisen bedarf es ein wenig Geduld. Unser Fleisch ruht nach dem Grillen ca. 20 Minuten. Erst dann entspannt es sich und reift in den idealen Zustand. Ihre Beilagen werden dabei immer frisch zubereitet.Nutzen Sie doch die Zeit zum Plaudern, Flirten, Trinken, Schauen, Entdecken, Philosophieren und Lachen.

Directions & Parking facilities

Our restaurant is located in Kuhmühlen, a district of Groß Meckelsen, west of Sittensen.

By car:
Take the A1 from Hamburg or Bremen. Leave the highway at the Sittensen exit. Only 1 km away, between the villages of Groß-Meckelsen and Klein-Meckelsen, you will reach the turn-off to Kuhmühlen.

By train and bus:
From Bremen main station and Hamburg main station (ICE stations), take the regional train "metronom" to Tostedt station. From there, the "Oste-Sprinter", bus route 3860, runs to Groß Meckelsen from Monday to Saturday.

By bike:
Arrival by bike is also possible. Our hotel and restaurant are located on the approx. 150 km long Hamburg-Bremen long-distance cycle route, which connects the two Hanseatic cities.

As a Wanderbares Deutschland quality host, we warmly welcome hikers. The 9.6 km long NORDPFAD Kuhbach-Oste, a circular hiking trail certified as a "dream tour quality trail", leads directly past the estate. A nice activity before you stop for a bite to eat or stay overnight.
