Ella von Wangenheim is the unmarried sister of Countess Frieda, who died 24 years ago. For decades, at her sister’s express request, Ella has been receiving a voluntary pension from her brother-in-law. She uses this to finance her participation in social life in Gotha. Even after her brother-in-law’s death six years ago, the allowance continued. But suddenly, the money stops coming! Ella doesn’t sit idly by and travels to Leer.
