Ballhofplatz will once again be transformed into a Finnish Christmas village with a genuine Lappish tent. Finnish specialties and handicrafts are offered there.
A tour of the historic Christmas village with 45 stalls demonstrates medieval town life in all its tranquillity and extends around the Historical Museum via Burgstraße, Roßmühle, Klostergang and Pferdestraße as well as an area between the adult education center and Leine. Craft demonstrations and activities of various kinds will encourage visitors to join in in a "craft alley". Visitors will be able to try their hand at felting or forging, for example. For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic, it will be hot again on the banks of the Leine. The brilliant fire show by the group "Chudadlo" takes place daily at 6 pm and 8 pm. There will also be music, juggling and a show program every day.
Wishing well forest
On the Holzmarkt in front of the Leibnizhaus, there are 50 fir trees on an area of around 400 square meters. In the middle of the trees is the Oskar Winter fountain, with the "wishing ring" on its wrought-iron grate. According to legend, wishes come true when this ring is turned. The forester's lodge and two forest huts in the wishing well forest are sure to fulfill culinary wishes.
Fun for the little ones
The activities for children are an integral part of the park. They range from the Punch and Judy show to the large carousel and the small Ferris wheel. Details will follow.
