wao - Wettbewerb Auswahlorchester 2026
At the Auswahlorchester (wao) competition, a total of 24 select orchestras from all over Germany will compete against one another in 9 competition categories on four stages (at the OsnabrückHalle and St. Catherine’s Church). Selection orchestras are cross-club and supraregional ensembles composed of selected musicians who compete in this event, held every four years, and submit their performances to the evaluation of a high-caliber and renowned jury.
The best amateur orchestras will showcase their talents and demonstrate the high caliber of the music scene. The competition performances will take place throughout the day and culminate in an atmospheric awards ceremony in the evening in the Europa Saal of the OsnabrückHalle.
The event is organized by the Federal Music Association for Choirs and Orchestras (BMCO) in cooperation with the City of Osnabrück.
