Vogelkundliche Führung "Die Rastvögel am Alfsee"
As a bird sanctuary in the European Natura 2000 network, Lake Alfsee is home to numerous water birds from many different species. While a large proportion of our native breeding birds are preparing for migration to the south, many waterfowl species visit bodies of water after the breeding season to moult, search for food or use the water areas for resting or as a safe retreat for the night. With a bit of luck, you may also see the odd wader passing through. The Haseniederung Biological Station is offering an ornithological tour of the Alfsee as part of the area management program sponsored by the state of Lower Saxony. During the event, Hendrik Hemmes will talk about the importance of the Alfsee area and the Haseniederung for water birds wintering in our latitudes and provide information about the individual bird species resting in this region and their ecological requirements for the habitats.
Families with children are also very welcome on the tour!
