Turmführung Kirche St. Cosmae mit Glockengeläut
Every year, over 70,000 people visit St. Cosmae Church outside of services and events. Most are tourists who enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and beautiful furnishings. Since May 2013, there has been a special highlight: you can climb the church tower up to the lantern of the tower via 187 steps and enjoy a wide view to the Hamburg harbor on clear days. There are scheduled public tower tours on weekends.
On some Saturdays, additional tours take place at 5 p.m. During these tours, there is the opportunity to experience the bells "live" during the descent: first, around 5:55 p.m., the zimbel bells ring, followed by a chime, and then the bell ringing (usually four large bells). The experience ends around 6:15 p.m.
Please note: The tower climb (187 steps) is undertaken at your own risk and is only possible in a guided group. It is not suitable for people with mobility impairments, cardiovascular issues, fear of heights, etc., nor for children under 8 years old.
Caution: The descent must be partially made backwards.
Advance registration is advisable, as the number of participants is limited.
