The colorful world of textiles comes to life at the Textile Market at the Tuchmacher Museum in Bramsche. More than 30 textile artists and craftspeople showcase their skills and products. Some have been participating for many years, but new textile artisans and artists join the event every year.
The offerings range from handmade fabrics and clothing to accessories and other textile creations. This year, there is a special focus on wool products. In the dye house, the museum’s wool is dyed in a large tin cauldron using the natural dye madder to create “Bramsche Red” and indigo to create blue. Traditional handicraft techniques—from spinning and felting to weaving—encourage visitors to give them a try, and wool and all kinds of materials can be purchased for personal projects. For children, there are smaller hands-on activities. A café area in the museum’s courtyard, as well as the dining options at the Riverside museum restaurant, round out the offerings at the Tuchmarkt.
